Toile Bedding Colors

Color is one of the most important aspects to consider carefully when designing your home. It greatly influences the atmosphere of your home, and usually also points to the general style of the home as well. Today, toile bedding can be found in just about any color. This is in large part due to the fact that it is no longer made using the same processes. Historically, toile was available in a small collection of colors. These included red, black, sage, and dark blue. Each of these colors of toile was considered to have a "complimenting color," of white, off-white, or cream.

Whether you choose to display a traditional color of toile or not in your bedding and other accents depends on the feel you wish to reflect. In an older, colonial-style home, this would be very appropriate. For that matter, the traditional toile colors go well with almost any atmosphere. Older homes simply seem to heighten the feel of old-world charm that the toile already produces.
